Trey Tucker (born February 16, 1998) — better known to wrestling fans as Alan Angels — is one of those wrestlers who has made his mark by constantly evolving. Whether it was under a mask in AEW as “5” of the Dark Order, or carving his path in Impact/TNA as part of The Design, Angels has consistently shown resilience, adapting to every environment he’s been placed in.

Early Career (2016–2020)

Alan Angels began his journey under the tutelage of high-flying independent star AR Fox, debuting on November 4, 2016. A Georgia native, Angels cut his teeth on the independent circuit, where his mix of technical sharpness and speed earned him opportunities in southern indies. It was this foundation that opened the door for his first national break.

All Elite Wrestling (2020–2022)

The Masked Recruit: Joining the Dark Order

Angels first appeared on AEW Dynamite on April 8, 2020, losing to Lance Archer in what seemed like a typical enhancement role. But just two weeks later, on April 22, he shocked fans by putting up a strong fight against Kenny Omega, earning respect despite the loss.

That performance caught AEW’s attention. By June 2020, Angels was revealed as the newest soldier in The Dark Order, joining under the masked identity of “5”. While much of his early role was spent in tag matches and multi-man bouts on AEW Dark, Angels was recognized for his crisp in-ring work, even in defeat.

Unmasking and Growth

In 2021, tensions within the Dark Order brought Angels into focus. He wrestled Evil Uno in September, and after losing, was unmasked — choosing to wrestle barefaced going forward. It was symbolic of Angels stepping into his own identity, no longer just another faceless member of the cult-like faction.

His last major AEW moment came full circle — another strong showing against Omega, this time with Kenny as AEW World Champion. Though Angels fell short, fans once again recognized his ability to deliver in big spots.

Angels’ AEW tenure came to an end on June 29, 2022, when his contract expired. His final AEW match was against Daniel Garcia in a Pure Rules match on Dark, a technical showcase that demonstrated his growth since debut.

Impact Wrestling / Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2022–2025)

Joining The Design

After AEW, Angels didn’t stay unsigned long. He debuted in Impact Wrestling on November 3, 2022, aligning himself with Eric Young, Deaner, and Kon in the violent faction Violent By Design. Following Young’s storyline “death,” the group rebranded as The Design, and Angels was simply known as “Angels.”

Breaking Away

In mid-2023, cracks showed. On the July 6 episode of Impact!, Angels lost to Jonathan Gresham but extended a handshake out of respect. This act of sportsmanship clashed with The Design’s ruthless philosophy, and Angels walked away from the group, reclaiming his name Alan Angels.

X-Division Chase

Later that year, Angels earned his biggest Impact/TNA spotlight. At Impact 1000, he won an Ultimate X match to become the #1 contender for the X Division Championship. Though he lost his title opportunity against Chris Sabin, the performance cemented his credibility in the division known for innovation and high-octane wrestling.

Independent Circuit and Beyond

Post-AEW and during his Impact/TNA tenure, Angels remained active on the independent scene. His versatility has made him a valuable hand in promotions looking for both solid work rate and name recognition.

Legacy in Progress

At just 27 years old, Alan Angels is still in the formative years of his career. His journey from masked Dark Order recruit to striking out as his own man in TNA mirrors the growth of many wrestlers who evolve by trial, failure, and persistence. Angels is no longer just “5” — he’s Alan Angels, carving a name on his own terms.
