Demitrius Bronson’s career is a unique story of persistence and reinvention. Born in Kent, Washington, in 1990, Bronson pursued two physically demanding dreams—professional football and professional wrestling. While injuries slowed his trajectory in both sports, his ability to adapt and compete at a high level gave him opportunities in the NFL with the Seattle Seahawks and Miami Dolphins, and later under contract with WWE NXT.

Early Life and High School Career

Raised in a football family, Bronson was surrounded by athletic influence. His older brother John Bronson played tight end at Penn State and later for the Arizona Cardinals, while his younger brother Josiah Bronson played defensive line for Temple and later the Washington Huskies.

At Kentwood High School, Demitrius stood out as a star running back. He rushed for 3,810 career yards, including 1,450 yards his senior year, earning recognition as a “Red Chip” recruit by the Seattle Times. His mix of speed (4.50 in the 40-yard dash) and power made him a highly regarded prospect.

College Football Career

University of Washington (2008–2010)

Bronson committed to the University of Washington Huskies in 2008. As a freshman and sophomore, he saw limited playing time, logging 19 carries for 89 yards in 2009. By 2010, however, his role diminished further, and he did not record any carries that season.

Transfer to Eastern Washington (2011–2013)

Seeking more opportunity, Bronson transferred to Eastern Washington University. He debuted against his former team, the Huskies, in 2011. Despite battling injuries, including a hamstring setback in 2012, he eventually became the team’s starting running back.

Over his career at Eastern Washington, Bronson totaled:

  • 687 rushing yards

  • 197 carries

  • 14 touchdowns

  • 8 receptions for 51 yards

While not putting up eye-popping numbers, he was valued for his work ethic, leadership, and toughness.

Professional Football Career

Pre-Draft and Pro Day

Bronson went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft but impressed scouts with his Pro Day numbers at Eastern Washington:

  • 40-yard dash: 4.52 seconds

  • Bench press: 24 reps at 225 lbs

  • Vertical jump: 33.5 inches

  • Broad jump: 9 ft 6 in

These stats highlighted his strength and explosiveness, even if his production in college had been limited.

Seattle Seahawks (2014–2015)

On June 17, 2014, Bronson signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He spent training camp competing for a roster spot, carrying the ball 18 times for 76 yards in preseason action.

Though released in August, he was quickly re-signed to the practice squad in November. He remained with the team into 2015, bouncing between practice squad and injured reserve.

Miami Dolphins (2015)

On August 10, 2015, the Miami Dolphins signed Bronson to bolster depth in training camp. Although he did not make the final roster, the stint gave him further NFL experience before injuries effectively ended his football career.

Professional Wrestling Career

Signing with WWE (2016)

After leaving football, Bronson transitioned to another physical pursuit: professional wrestling. In October 2016, WWE announced him as one of nine new recruits joining its developmental brand, NXT. He began training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

NXT Debut and Matches (2017–2018)

  • March 3, 2017: Bronson made his debut at a NXT live event in Crystal River, Florida, teaming with HoHo Lun in a loss to the powerhouse duo The Authors of Pain.

  • September 27, 2017: He made his first televised appearance on NXT, teaming with Patrick Scott in a loss to Heavy Machinery (Tucker Knight and Otis Dozovic).

Bronson primarily worked live events and enhancement matches, gaining experience but never breaking into a major storyline.

Release (2018)

On June 2, 2018, WWE released Bronson as part of a wave of developmental cuts. His time in NXT was short-lived, but it gave him a second chance at athletic stardom after football.

Legacy and Life After Sports

Though his runs in both the NFL and WWE were brief, Demitrius Bronson’s career highlights his versatility, determination, and willingness to take risks. Few athletes make it to one professional sport, let alone two, and Bronson accomplished both before the age of 30.

He remains part of a unique fraternity of athletes who bridged the gap between football and wrestling, following in the footsteps of stars like Bronko Nagurski, Bill Goldberg, Roman Reigns, and The Rock.

✅ Quick Career Summary:

  • High School: Kentwood HS, 3,810 rushing yards, Red Chip recruit.

  • College: University of Washington, then Eastern Washington; 687 career rushing yards, 14 TDs.

  • NFL: Seahawks (2014–15), Dolphins (2015).

  • Wrestling: WWE NXT prospect (2016–18), debuted at house shows, appeared on NXT TV once.
